Diagnostic decongestion of the nasal mucosa
effect
The decongestant effect of Nasivin nasal spray is attributed to the drug oxymetazoline. The substance is one of the alpha sympathomimetics and has vasoconstrictive properties. By decongesting the nasal mucosa, oxymetazoline stops the intensive production of secretion during cold weather. This makes it easier for the patient to breathe again. At the same time, eye irritation is relieved and strong blood flow to the mucous membranes is reduced.
In addition, alpha sympathomimetic has anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antioxidant and immunomodulatory effects. The auxiliary substance glycerol moistens the nasal mucosa and protects it from drying out.
